Does your dog have a valid licence? March 31 is the annual deadline for renewal of dog licences in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Your dog is required to have a current 2010 dog licence, if you are a resident and want to prevent receipt of costly fines. Dog owners can be fined $175 if their dog does not have a valid licence. This is the new charge as of 2010. The previous fine was $250.
A dog licence identifies who a dog belongs to and helps in reuniting lost dogs with their owners. Licences are valid for one year.

Dog spayed or neutered - $25 (Please provide a certificate from your vet on first application.)
Dog NOT spayed or neutered - $50
Vicious dog - $750 (If deemed a vicious dog by Strathcona County)
Over-limit permit yearly fee - $60
Replacement Dog Tag - $5

Dog licence renewals can also be paid through major banks, online banking or telephone banking. Arrange for this type of payment by contacting your bank. Please use your dog tag number as your ID or account number as required.

How many dogs can I have? A maximum of two licensed dogs in any County household, without an over-limit permit. Over-limit permit You may apply for an over-limit permit to keep more than two dogs. The cost for the permit is $60 and is to be paid annually.The over-limit permit can be revoked for violations of the dog bylaw.
