I contacted Twilla to assist me with a dog I rescued from the Yellowhead. It was obvious she had been dumped as her coat was filthy and she was clearly in need of a nourishing meal. I have successfully trained several dogs and am usually quite capable of correcting problem behaviors. In months previous to finding this particular dog, I have rescued four others and experienced no difficulties with their behavior.
Although this young dog, whom we called Sadie, was very friendly and, on the whole, very well behaved, she would bully our dog, Twinkle, who is more mature and very laid back. When the family would show affection to Twinkle, Sadie would push her out of the way and claim the attention for herself. In general, Sadie was dominating both Twinkle and our household.
Twilla was quick in her observations and taught simple and effective corrective techniques to end the unwanted behavior without damaging Sadie's young mind and friendly nature. I was pleased to find this action produced immediate results and, within a very short time, Sadie had a clear understanding of her place within our pack, producing two happy dogs.
I am pleased to report that I found a wonderful new home for Sadie where she is loved and enjoys a pack consisting of both humans and fellow canines. Twilla's expertise is much broader than my own and I found her to be very understanding and helpful. I will not hesitate to call her for additional consults, should I experience difficulty with future rescues that come my way. (Mandy Barnett Sherwood Park, AB)
